Colbert on Common Cause

300px-the_colbert_reportComedipundit Stephen Colbert weighed in on the Clarence Thomas ethics debate last night, providing his own defense of the Supreme Court Justice’s actions, including:
  • “Justice Thomas had to check the box for ‘none’ – there wasn’t a box for $700,000!”
  • “A brief drop-by…or four days of meals, accommodations, and transportation. Why can’t it be both?!”
  • “Justice Thomas always rules on the side of more corporate influence in our elections. So this trip to Palm Springs wasn’t a bribe–it was a reward!”

  1. Guess I’ve never considered going to Cobert for authoritative, knowlagable, political debate. I’ll check him out in the future, but retain my right to remain skeptical. That said, I feel it is always important to view all sides and opinions on issues.

  10. I get an error message when I click on your pdf file of the Arizona public finance of elections law. Please check the posting. From what I understand this could be a useful model for National Elections however I would like to read it in it’s entirety. I’m hoping for for the best government money can not buy.
