PRICELE$$ Movie Debuts on PBS Stations
PRICELE$$ is a filmmaker’s personal journey across America to answer a burning question: why are some of our government’s most basic policies so dysfunctional–and can anything be done about it?
From the press release:
Sharing the suspicion of fellow-citizens and a class of young civics students that campaign money is involved (especially since Citizen United) the road trip is a spellbinding, at times hilarious, ride in search of a practical way to get big money out of politics–a fun wake-up call for we-the-people!
PBS stations nationwide will begin airing the movie in April (check local listings). As we approach the most expensive election in U.S. history, in the wake of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling, filmmakers Steve Cowan and Cameron Harrison have released a documentary that takes an unsettling, and at times hilarious look at twonational policies – farm and energy – shaped by a tsunami of special interest campaign money. The film also examines a possible way out of what has been called the “campaign money circus that our leaders are caught in.”
Over the past year, PRICELE$$ has been recognized by a number of top film festivals including: Independent Film Festival (Washington D.C.), Columbus International Film Festival and the United Nations Association Film Festival.
