Thanks acilletam, great blog.  AT&T says they want to bring competition, lower prices and advanced services to communities.  But when the communities say 'OK, as long as those benefits go to EVERYONE,' AT&T says 'no thanks.'  See, they're not interested in making sure that entire communities benefit.  They're interested in serving the richest neighborhoods where they can sell their bundled services and get the greatest profit margins.

The COPE Act (now called "ATOR" in the Senate) doesn't currently contain language that would ensure that telephone companies "build-out" their new video services to all neighborhoods.  That's just one of several reasons to keep this bill from coming to the floor of the Senate.  Go to www.commoncause.org/SpeakUp to tell your Senator to oppose this flawed bill.
