Restoring the rule of law is not a waste of time

It's impossible to say "to hell with Gonzales" when he's using our justice system as a partisan and ideological weapon.  If you don't care about the US Attorney firings or the politicization of career hirings, how about NSA wiretapping?  Torture?  All these things link back to Gonzales, and nothing is going to change as long as he's around.  

Impeaching Gonzales would be the opposite of "caving" to the administration - they clearly want him to stick around, and are hoping that everyone will do exactly what you seem to be proposing and forget about him.
