Time for Tom DeLay to Step Down ...

We are calling on Rep. Tom DeLay (R-TX) to step down immediately as the majority leader of the House of Representatives after the Ethics Comittee twice admonished him in a week for improper conduct on three seperate matters.  He also has a third black mark on his record from 1999, when the panel admonished him for yet another matter.

Here is the seven-page letter from the House Ethics Committe to Representative DeLay, which the New York Times characterized as a "stern warning." (subscription req'd)

Later today we are going to be launching a major nationwide petition drive to collect thousands of signature in support of Rep. DeLay stepping down from his leadership position.  We are simply not going to tolerate this kind of blatant and repeated disregard for Congressional ethics rules.

UPDATE:  Here is our petition:

Sign it today and pass it on to your family, friends, coworkers, neighbors on your addressbook - anyone you know who respects the basic ethical fabric that sustains an honest government.

About Time

It's about time that someone has called for this man to resign his leadership position.  Personally, I would go even further by demanding he resign from the House altogether.  The level of naked partisanship that has been created by Delay has done nothing but make our country weaker.  One has to wonder about the sanity of an elected official who declared, "in the face of war, there's nothing more important than cutting taxes."

Exactly.  The most important thing in wartime is to start more wars.  After all, the more wars the better you get at warfare.

EXPECT DeLays

Seen on the back window of a pick up truck in Dallas.
On the Highway, entering a highway construction zone.

"CORRUPTION AHEAD:
EXPECT DeLays"

Somebody in his district should publish
"construction orange" bumper stickers.

Re: EXPECT DeLays

Is there any way you can get us a picture of that sign Tracy? We would really appreciate it.

I am a moderate Republican ...

and I am ashamed to have Tom DeLay as the leader of our party.  This is not a partisan issue any more.  This is about the stench of corruption that has completely screwed up our legislative process.  DeLay needs to resign as the majority leader now and I'd like to see these demands coming from the senisible wing of our party.

I think Judicial Watch agrees with you.

Re: I am a moderate Republican ...

That is what is so interesting.  It is good to see a conservative group for once telling it like it really is.  I am just waiting for other sensibel Republicans in Congress, and I know there are some - to step up and call Mr. DeLay out as someone who is unfit to lead Lincoln's party in the House of Reps.
