CLINTON/BOXER

I wrote last week about the press conference Chellie Pingree spoke at with Senators Clinton, Boxer and Kerry on the introduction of the Count Every Vote Act, the bill challenging Congress to fix what's wrong with our voting system.

See this interview on The Raw Story where I talk about the bill:

While there are other specific single bills already out there, like the paper trail for electronic voting bill, this bill is meant to set the Gold Standard for fixing these problems.

Of course, passing this legislation in this Congress is the longest of long shots, but never give up hope. We'll also be working in many states to pass these and similar reforms. We've got to fix this - it's a basic right - we've got to have confidence that our vote we'll be able to vote and that our vote will be counted as cast.

In memory of Hunter Thompson: "Ah Jesus...here we go again: Another flashback...the doctor says there's no cure for them; totally unpredictable, like summer lightning in the Rockies or sharks on the Jersey Shore...unreeling across your brain like a jumble of half-remembered movies all rolling at once."

Deal with the Governor

Although I whole heartedly agree that our political system in California is broken and needs to be fixed, I don't think that the Governor is an honorable man.  He can't be trusted and there is a good likely hood Common Cause and it's members will be stabbed in the back by him.  Yikes!  It is a very scarey thought that you are making a deal with him.  Please reconsider this decision.
  Thank you!
Sincerely,

Re: Deal with the Governor

Eric - We've heard a lot from people telling us not to trust the Governor. We're always wary of dealing with elected officials, who can have an agenda quite different than ours, but who bring needed leadership to the table. We will keep our eyes on the prize - getting real redistricting reform - and be hoodwinked by the Gov. - -Ed Davis
