Award-Winning Documentary Filmmakers Donate Talents for Election Reform

Updated (4/21 - 5:34 pm EST - Murshed): We just created quicktime links for this videw (you can find them under the image below).  Check it out.

Today was a banner day for the Election Reform Team here at Common Cause. That's because we launched our short documentary, "Never Forget November 2nd."

A while ago, I wrote a blog post about the genesis of the documentary. We first met Erin Conrad through an election reform house party in December. Erin's enthusiasm and energy was truly inspirational. As the months went by, we started to cook up some ideas. This short documentary is one of the products.

Here's what I wrote in that original blog post:

The documentary was edited and produced by Erin and Conrad Stanley, two Los Angeles documentary film makers who are passionate about the cause of election reform. So passionate that they donated their time and the use of their studio. SO passionate that Erin stayed up all night to finish the movie in time.

That's the kind of energy and dedication that gives real power to reform efforts. I hope that, when people see Erin's work, they will be moved to match her dedication.

Interestingly enough, as she was making the movie and requesting permission to use footage from many sources, a lot of the people Erin talked to wanted to get involved in the cause, too.

So, let's put all this energy to work in a meaningful way. Let's fight for change NOW.

Iowa

Does anyone know what type of voting was was in Iowa for the Democratic Presidential candidate selection?  Touchscreen, paper punch ballots?  How can the voting machine software be made tamperproof?  Made so it takes way to long to change it back and forth to redirect votes while the election is going on and have time to fix it before checking and recertification?

Re: Iowa

I highly recommend the nonpartisan informational Web site www.electionline.org to find the answer to this and other questions. For the specific question of what sort of voting machines are in use, you click on a state, then can go county by county. Here's Iowa's.

We only have dial-up, cable TV isn't even available, never mind broadband. We don't get this video at all.

Never forget November 2

As I watched the video it brought back that  feeling of hopelessness that I experienced when I saw the results of the election. I could not believe that once again, the election was "stolen".I had read that the voter machines were not accurate, and since in many states, there was no paper trail, many voters were disinfranchised. This must not happen ever again. Thank you for this powerful documentary.
