RNCC sends nervous memo over DeLay ...

Just got this.  Apparently the folks at the National Republican Congressional Committee are taking note the of 2,400 MoveOn PAC volunteers effort to deliver 470,000 petitions to 195 GOP House members today in their district offices calling for Tom DeLay to be fired.  Here is an email Carl Forti, the Communications Director for RNCC sent out to all GOP Chiefs of Staff and Press Secretaries yesterday:

Subject: MoveOn Petitions
Importance: High
All GOP Chiefs of Staff and Press Secretaries:

It has come to our attention that MoveOn.org is dropping off petitions to district offices today.

We are doing a quick survey to determine if your office DID or DID NOT have a petition dropped off. And if you did, how many signatures it contained.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could take a quick moment and reply to this email with the following information:

Member Name: ____________________________________

DID or DID NOT have a petition dropped off

Petition contained _________ names.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Carl

Again, we are just messanger over here.  Just wanted to pass this along, because it is pretty interesting.  It shows how folks over at the Hill are taking note of the grassroots message on Tom DeLay.  We are sure they are also hearing our flood of phone calls for an an independent, outside counsel who can conduct a credible investigation into DeLay's ethics mess.  Let's keep up the pressure

Mr. & Mrs. only ?

On the current petition re: Delay:

Why is the only choice for the title of a married couple Mr. & Mrs?
(unless one of us is doctor--I wish)

As a regular friend of Common Cause I was very insulted to see that as part of a married couple my only choice when selecting a title for me and my husband was Mr. & Mrs.  Would it really be that hard to add Mr. & Ms. as a choice as well?  or how about for couples with different last names? (we happen to be a Mr. X and Ms. Y with children Z but we are married!)  and maybe singles with children would like say Mr. & Family or Ms. and Family. I won't even start with Mr. &  Mr. or  Ms. &  Ms.  How about a restricted blank so that some sort of title has to be entered but allow us to put it in ourselves.

I routinely answer mail on behalf of my husband and myself.  We vote together quite often and try to help each other keep up with what is going on.  I think it is good for our elected officials to know that there are at least two people in our household expressing a similar view.  Please fix the choices so that we can announce ourselves as the progressive couple that we are.

Thanks
