Common Cause Activism in North Carolina ...

Hi everyone-- here's an update from Bob Phillips in North Carolina.  Over 800 North Carolina residents have signed a Confidence in Voting Bill petition drive we launched few weeks ago. and we just went back to them with the opportunity to pass the word along to their friends, family and co-workers in the state.  These are the activists who realize how important it is that elections in North Carolina be fair and reliable.  If you have friends or family in North Carolina, you can help too.  Use our action center tool to send information and a link to the petition to your contacts in North Carolina.

Bob has been sending regular emails to our members in North Carolina and has kept them informed about the state's two big issues: election reform and lobby reform.  You can read text of Bob's email below after the jump.  As always, look for more activism to come out of the Tar Heel state.

Frustrations are rising in Raleigh. Lawmakers remain unable to reach a budget agreement. With many committee meetings cancelled, action is stalled on many bills, including SB 223, the public confidence in elections proposal.

We can't idly sit back and watch. You joined more than 800 residents of North Carolina in signing the Confidence in Voting Bill petition. Lawmakers are feeling the pressure, but we must urge them to resolve this stalemate and get the business of the state done, including passing SB 223. We can only do this by getting others involved. Please let your friends, family and co-workers in North Carolina know about the importance of this bill:

Using this form makes telling your friends easier. And we need their support to show lawmakers that we haven't forgotten about SB 223. If each of you gets 10 people to sign up, we would be able to present lawmakers with over 8,000 names of people who demand election reform in North Carolina. This would make quite a statement!

By telling other residents of North Carolina about the petition you are helping to create the groundswell we will need to get SB 223 passed. You can emphasize to legislators the importance of passing legislation requiring voter verified paper ballots in North Carolina. Please take a moment right now and get 10 friends involved - it really makes a difference.

Thank you for all you do for Common Cause North Carolina.

Sincerely,

Bob Phillips

Nice!

Wow, this is great!  I have friends in NC who I can send this to.  Maybe I'll turn it into a contest between my Duke and UNC buddies about who can send out the most... hee hee...
