Join the Fight for Clean Elections in Albuquerque

This is DJ Francis, on behalf of Matt Brix, Executive Director of Common Cause New Mexico, and we want to extend an invitation out to you and all other members from Common Cause to come out to Albuquerque, New Mexico and help us in our fight for Clean Elections in.  For decades, Common Cause has been pushing to eliminate the corrupting influence of money in politics, and our effort in New Mexico is picking up steam.  We only have two and a half weeks left in the campaign and we have an opportunity to make real change in this campaign, which will have national ramifications encouraging reform movement all around the country.

We are close to tasting victory in Albuquerque, but we urgently need volunteers that can go the extra mile for Clean Money campaign finance reform.  That's why we are asking you to join us in New Mexico.  Wherever you are, we hope you will consider making a special trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the next two and a half weeks to work with our state staff and volunteers.  Please sign up now to volunteer now:

http://www.commoncause.org/JoinUsInAlbuquerque

Our efforts have already begun, but we need your help to get us over the edge.  We can win this, but only with your help.

We know this is asking a lot, but we assure you it may be the most rewarding campaigning you ever do.  Common Cause staff from across the country is joining our local volunteers and those from across the country who care about Clean Elections.  A win in Albuquerque will significantly support our efforts for public financing in other cities and states.  Plus, it's great fun!  I hope you can join us.

working hard

I just wanted to say that I fully support what you are doing out there in New Mexico and although I am bummed that I can not make it out there to help I have sent my husband instead.
P.S. Who is that goofy looking guy in the picture on the left? ha ha

Go Albuquerque!

Howdy all!

Us Clean Money Californians really want to see  you succeed!  People want better mechanisms to maintain fairness and ethics.

Thanks for sending out the email blast to everybody so that any roving bands of Clean Money advocates can all converge and make that difference!

Los Angeles City will hopefully be doing a study on Clean Elections through their Legal Analyst this winter and California's got Assembly Bill 538 that should be having hearings and then a vote in January!  After California's special elections, it'll finally be time for making serious and significant changes out here not bandaids that only half work!

There's a growing snowball of good news and clarity about how important it is to get money into politics:  "Clean Money"!

It will be so rewarding, some day to know that we have impacted the United States in a way where all people will finally be certain that their votes are valuable so that citizenship will feel empowered to stay involved and grow good government!

All the best on Oct 4th!

Sincerely,

James Bennett Saxon

Re: Go Albuquerque!

Thanks so much for posting here and your support James. Yes, if we are successful with this campaign in NM, we will definitely able to carry the positive momentum from that campaign elsewhere, including to the Golden State, my home state.

question about volunteering in New Mexico

I live in Phoenix, and am currently not working, so getting to Albuquerque would not be a big problem. But I wonder about what a volunteer would do. I am male, 68, and in good health, but with occasional back problems. I don't think I would be much help at any physical work, but I could do most other things. I am a software consultant by trade, if that sort of skill would be of any help. Please let me know if possible.

Re: question about volunteering in New Mexico

Mr. Silverston, First, thanks for writing! It is heartening to hear from our members. Many of us will be knocking on doors, but that is certainly not all we need. We will have phone banking opportunities (good for a bad back!) and other visibility chances to let Albuquerque residents know about this measure. I will be contacting you soon--thanks for showing your support!

Dollarcracy

Dear Matt Brix:

I was with Common Cause sinec its birth> I appreciate its accomplishments. To talk about money that currupts politics has been one of the persistent theme of Common Cause.......Several decades later and awful lot of campaign by CC, money talks in politics. You better find a different strategy to combat the influence of "dollarcracy".
