Bush's Harshest Critic

Tom DeLay in response to suggested tax increases to pay for Katrina relief efforts:

"The so-called Katrina tax hikes are not about Katrina; they're about tax hikes and will only serve to balloon the oversized, under-responsive emergency-management system that broke down three weeks ago in the wake of the hurricane," DeLay said in a House floor speech, according to prepared remarks provided by his office.

Tom Delay and Katrina tax hikes

Isn't it odd that Common Cause writer Mike Surrusco is quoting Tom Delay.  Common Cause spends most of its time telling us what an untrustworthy  guy Mr. Delay is and how he should step down.  But Mr. Surrusco finds it useful to quote Mr. Delay when he is attacking other Repulicans in congress and their ideas.  If Tom Delay is such a bad guy as Common Cause tries to portray him as then why would we listen to him.  Mr. Surrusco's attempts to make Republicans look bad is oh so transparent.
