"we will never surrender to evil"

we have become the evil most of the world is trying to placate. peasants everywhere struggle just to survive, and we enrich middlemen while buying their produce, their crafts, their factory products. we could at least pay them a fair price for their products. and we could get our government off their backs and let them have their water without private fees to pay.

i'll listen some more now.

"our economy is healthy"

in what reality? the housing bubble is bursting, and we just finished a year where the savings of the population is at a minus half percent of our incomes. there is reason to believe china, japan, india and other countries (including our saudi friends) will not invest in dollars this year, so nobody will be paying for our deficit spending. that means spiking interest rates and a national debt in the gazillions. after you count inflation, the average earner saw a 0.3% reduction in her/his wages' buying power last year.

i just heard him asking to make the tax cuts permanent. that would be the cuts on rich people's taxes. this is unbelievable.

Cutting programs

The President said in his State of the Union addres that he plans to cut 140 programs that are ineffective, how many of these programs exisit to aid the poor?  How many of these programs are only ineffective due to lack of funding in the first place?

cindy sheehan's arrest

cindy sheehan was arrested for wearing a tee shirt with an antiwar slogan on it into the house gallery. they cuffed her and took her away for wearing perfectly decent clothes. what ever happened to free speech? forget about flag burning--just talk about our right to hold and appropriately express ideas.

Re: cindy sheehan's arrest

Cindy Sheehan  is a lady badly in need of mental help.  When i see her on TV and in the paper i dont get angry like many Americans, i feel sorry for her, she is being manipulated by Liberals who if they really cared about this women, would send her to get the grief councling she so badly needs. Instead they use her and parade her around for their own political agenda.

Ethical Govt. & Gay Marriage?!

This was a cynical ploy, conflating these two issues: "They are concerned about unethical conduct by public officials, and discouraged by activist courts that try to redefine marriage." And the connection is what? But we'll take this on face value and hold him to it: "A hopeful society expects elected officials to uphold the public trust. Honorable people in both parties are working on reforms to strengthen the ethical standards of Washington - and I support your efforts. Each of us has made a pledge to be worthy of public responsibility - and that is a pledge we must never forget, never dismiss, and never betray." Finally, no comment on this one: "creating human-animal hybrids"

Could be easier.

It could be easier to actually create a human-animal hybrid than legalizing gay marriage in US.I don't really know why did they stuck on it when we have much urgent issues to resolve. And another thing: it's time to consider a "stop divorce" bill due to the divorce rate in our statistics.
