How Come...?

How come if you looked on the Speaker's web site today you see him bragging about passing the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act, while he himself has spectacularly failed to protect the Pages working in the Capitol Building and under his protection from a Member of Congress under his control? "At home we put children first, and Republicans are doing just that in the House" his web site says, " We have all seen the disturbing headlines about sex offenders and crimes against children. These crimes cannot persist. Protecting our children from internet predators and child exploitation enterprises are just as high a priority as securing our borders from terrorists." The Speaker concludes.
How come protecting a Page from an internet predator was not as high a priority for the Speaker as protecting power?
How come when they knew all of this they allowed Foley to remain Co-Chair of the Missing and Exploited Children's Congressional Caucus?
How Come the Speaker has no shame?
How come the first person Rep. Alexander told about Foley's emails was Rep. Tom Reynolds...the political guy who runs the NRCC, the organization dedicated to getting Republicans elected to the House and keeping a Republicans majority.
How come Rep. Dale Kildee, the Democrat on the Page Board that has responsibility for the Pages, or the other Republican, Shelley Moore Capito, were never told about the emails from Foley?
How come enough was known about Foley's behavior that the pages themselves told each other to stay away from Rep. Foley, yet the Republican leadership says they didn't know anything about his behavior?
How come Speaker Hastert held a press conference to dodge the blame, reading from a script that said that he and the other Republican leaders did not know anything about the sexually explicit emails from Foley to former pages yet would not take so much as one question from the press or explain why he did not look into the matter further (or even remember that Rep. Reynolds had told him about the Foley emails)?
How come, when the Republicans were thinking about a bold action to deal with the Page problem what they came up with was to ELIMINATE THE PAGE PROGRAM?
How come the Speaker has not asked the Ethics Committee to appoint an independent outside counsel to investigate the actions of the entire Republican leadership and others in this matter knowing the Ethics Committee has no creditability to do the job because he himself fired the last Ethics Chairman who did his job and moved to investigate Former Majority Leader Tom Delay ?
Should we be asking: "how come he is still the Speaker?"
