Indianapolis scrambles for poll workers

Indianapolis - Nearly 14,000 Marion County residents are casting absentee ballots and voting early this election. Less than 24 hours before the polls open, county officials were still looking for workers to open and run 30 polling places, most of them in the inner city.

John Kerry insults our military men and women

This article is taken from theweekmagazine.com, one could only imagine how many posts we would see on Common Cause, if Bush had insulted our men and women in the military but instead we hear nothing from Common Cause about this disrespect.

Kerry's joke falls flat

Democratic Sen. John Kerry handed Republicans a potent campaign issue this week, after he told students at a Texas college that "if you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq." Kerry said the comment was a botched joke directed at President Bush, reputed to be an indifferent student. But Bush said Kerry's remark disparaged the intelligence of the troops in Iraq, calling it "insulting and shameful." Other Republicans said the comment by the former presidential nominee bolstered their contention that Democrats are anti-military. Kerry said he meant no offense to U.S. troops and canceled all appearances with Democratic candidates.

The Texas Vote Fix Is In

This is reported here in San Antonio.  Please note I removed her email address, but I do have it.  I sent the entire email to Howard Dean.
Also, my Mom called me tonight and told me the local news in San Antonio is warning about vote flipping tonight.

Subject: Casting your ballot ALERT

Be sure to click on "Review" after you have checked the boxes on your
ballot.  If you have to make a change click on "Review" again to make
sure
the ballot shows your correct choice.  If not, ask for the Elections
Judge.

I experienced an irregularity when I voted and have since notified
several
official offices including Rep. Menendez since he has drafted
legislation to

control these reported irregularities.  There is an article in today's
E-N
about this legislation.  My experience was this.  After I very
carefully
checked the candidates of my choice, I clicked on "Review" and to my
amazement one of the candidates I had voted for had been changed to
another
candidate of a different party.  I had to correct that error & I tried
"Review" again to make sure the correct box was, in fact, checked.  I
didn't

think too much about it at the time but after hearing Diane Rehm's Show
yesterday morning on the subject of the reliability of the voting
machines I

became worried.  A listener called in to say that he had just
experienced an

irregularity in the voting booth.  After completing the ballot he
punched
"Review" only to discover that three of the Democratic candidates he
had
voted for had been changed to Republican candidates.  Realizing this
was my
same experience I began reporting it to elected officials.  After
talking
with the various offices I found that other people here in San Antonio
have
had the same experience.  Be Aware!

YouTube video criticizing Bush and Republicans

Check out this mash-up video pastiche criticizing the Bush Administration and rubber-stamp Republican Congress and encouraging people to vote Democrat. It's set to the tune of The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again." The video is on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ufa-q7DcWM.
