Virginia has been under a microscope because of the heated race for Senate between incumbent George Allan (R) and challenger Jim Webb (D). Can you say macaca? What about tail hook? We hear that ABC just broke the news that the Virginia Board of Elections confirmed that the FBI is investigating reports of voter intimidation and intentional misinformation.
Here are the tallies from the top precincts:
- Fairfax, 70
- Prince William, 31
- Virginia Beach, 22
- Chesapeake, 22
We have been listening to what we can on our hotline line today and are piecing together a few things; it does sound like it is getting a little rough out there.
Covington: A voter went into poll without ID and was refused a provisional ballot. "I asked three times and showed her copy of the voter ID law and I was still denied. I gave her a lot of chances to correct but they said no ID, no vote."
Virginia Beach City: "Directly outside doors of school and well within the signs that said no electioneering, there were folks giving out ballot guides--political advertisements for Drake and Allen--by Veterans of Foreign Wars and stating families for Drake and Allen under guise of bipartisan ballot explanation."
Fairfax: "My husband and I just voted at Gerry Run High School. There were two gentlemen passing out flyers. Blue = Dem and Green = Rep; the gentleman who was handing out green asked if we wanted one. We said we wanted the blue. He hollered out angrily, you better vote opposite. I felt intimidated and that this was inappropriate outside polling area."
Louisa: "I want to report a rigged machine at the Gordonsville Pentecostal Church on James Madison Highway in Gordonsville. I cast my vote for a Dem candidate and the Republican candidate was checked. I definitely didn't push the wrong button. Unhappy with assistance."
Henrico: "I had a problem when I hit one button, another candidate would pop up. I called and they were very arrogant about it. I am willing to testify."
