How is it that fake news shows are more insightful than the actual news?

For those who missed it, The Colbert Report did several segments on money in politics a couple nights ago. You can find the video here:

And, just because I think it's one of the greatest political/comedic performances of all time, I thought I'd offer up a link to Jon Stewart's October 2004 appearance on CNN's Crossfire. The show was cancelled a few months later, with CNN executives and cohost Tucker Carlson quoted in various news articles as basically agreeing with Stewart's criticism.
