Defunding Democracy

We learn today from the WaPo that the Bush Admin. is cutting back on funding for programs to being democracy to Iraq:

While President Bush vows to transform Iraq into a beacon of democracy in the Middle East, his administration has been scaling back funding for the main organizations trying to carry out his vision by building democratic institutions such as political parties and civil society groups. ... Jennifer Windsor, executive director of Freedom House, an advocacy group that hosted a Bush speech last week, called the situation "a travesty" and said she is "appalled" that more is not being done. "This is the time to show that democracy promotion is more than holding an election. If the U.S. can't see fit to fund follow-up democracy promotion at this time," then it is making a mistake, she said.
The mind boggles. But it's not surprising. The Bush Admin. - and Congress - have failed to fully fund democracy in this country. Our election system, 7 months before a major mid-term election, is still a mess. Funding is not the only problem, but without a permanent commitment from the federal government we will never have a system of voting worthy of the 'world's greatest democracy.'

On everything government ... State and Federal

I have lived 62 years and some amount of days at this time, and have had good eyes, good ears, a good sharp mind, am a bit above average intelligence, and am NOT politically correct, but call a spade a spade, and believe in the one God, Yahweh, and that He is the God of creation. I do not stick my head in the sand and ignore unpleasant things, nor do I miss out on things that are fun and good. I will not ever try to force a square block into a round hole or any thing of equal stupidity. I have witnessed this...: The United States government is not, in truth, a government for and by the people, unless when we refer to people, we are referring to a select few individuals from the wealthiest of those who reside on the soil and within the boundaries of what we call the United States of America. The leaders of this once great nation are nothing less than criminals. All of them...! If they weren't when they either were elected or appointed, then soon after and due to the peer pressure of those who are there when they got there, they soon become criminals. They lie to us, they steal from us, they refuse to see the plight of the honest (that word is of primary importance here) poor and under privileged in this society. They do NOT care about anyone but those who can help them attain more in their quest for more wealth. They have given in to those who are out to destroy the fabric that was once the strength of what used to be called America. I truly believe that there is NO hope for the recovery of this country through the process of voting, because the leaders have taught the voters to worship the wealthy class, and idolize the ones who seek to rob us. This country was founded by a revolution against the very thing it has become. Our children are taught to be ignorant. Truth and common logic are tossed aside in the name of political correctness. It is now a run-away train and the train is going too fast to use any brakes and will crash. UNLESS We true patriots take this nation back the same way we originally claimed it. There is NO other viable solution, and any fool who thinks that there is needs a brain transplant, that is if a normal brain could be found these days and times. All it takes to see and realize I am speaking logical truth is to just look around, without blinders on, and see things as they really are. We have allowed the very strength that brought this nation to greatness to be stricken from mention, and this has been done by groups so illogical that they would try to force a square block into a round hole and swear that it is the correct thing to do. LOGIC....LOGIC....LOGIC That word will most likely scare many who read this...LOGIC Red walls do not become green just because someone says they are. That statement is a parable of the attitude in society. It means that stupidity, illogic, and ignorance are the rule now. The IRS is the biggest criminal organization to ever exist within the boundaries of the US. It makes the Mafia look like choir boys. Social Security has become a "ponzi" of immense proportions, and it also has been robbed by the people we have elected to protect us. The United States of America, as a government, is NOT a government OF, FOR, and BY the people of the US, but is a criminal organization that is stealing from every man woman and child who is NOT of the privileged wealthy class. It is a MONSTER that we have allowed to grow in our midst, and if we do NOT do something about it, it will devour our freedoms and us. The Republicans and the Democrats are both extremely corrupt forces. There is nothing left in either that is worth salvaging. We need leaders from the common citizenship of this nation, who are independent of any ties to the criminals that are in power. That is all fact. And that is my comment on all of the subjects that this organization has put forth. I could think of much more to say, but I will let what I have stated here sink into whatever it will.
