Victory for Internet Freedom

Net neutrality won a major victory today, as the House Judiciary Committee passed HR 5417, the Internet Freedom and Non-Discrimination Act.  The bill passed with strong bipartisan support, 20-13.

The fight is a long way from being over, but this was an important win -- particularly in the face of heavy lobbying from the telephone and cable industry.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to reach out to their Representatives this week.  We're hearing that constituent pressure really made a difference.  Keep it up.

Hooray!

Congratulations to Dawn and the rest of our Media and Democracy team.  And, of course, thanks to everyone who called or wrote their representative!

WOOOOH!

Hey Dawn, way to go!  This is great news; finally, the House is starting
to see how important it is to protect their constituents' access to the
Internet and cable.  The First Amendment just scored another victory.
Woooh!
