Weekly State Roundup

My fellow Americans, it is time once again for Friday's state roundup. Please comment on any state news that we may have missed.

*    On the Ethics front in California, San Jose's Mayor Gonzalez was arrested on six felony counts, including the charge of taking a bribe.
*    Ethics has become a component of the debate in New Jersey's Senate race.
*    In Florida from January to March 2006, lobbyists have paid an alarming $50 million dollars for political influence.
*    While an inspiration for those of us who would like to see national clean elections, Maine still has some work to do.
*    The California legislature is looking at a ballot proposition for the November election that would appoint an independent commission for redistricting.
*    The Pennsylvania legislature finally passed a lobbying disclosure law.
*    The North Carolina State Senate is looking at passing ethics reform measures.
*    The city council of Palo Alto, California went on the record officially supporting redistricting reform.
*    And, Nebraska's Broadband Task Force needs to give more power to the public sector in reference to broadband.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful 4th of July weekend! On Tuesday, be sure to read the intro to the Declaration of Independence - it reminds us of what this amazing country has strived for but has never fully achieved. We must continue striving.

Illegal voting and Democrats

Maybe the focus on Democratic Mayor Gonzalez should be more about how he got into office in the first place, while rumors flew about  the illegal voting carried out by illegal immigrants in the Los Angeles mayor election which saw Antonio Villaraigosa gain mayorship. (Antonio is a former member of  Mexican supremacy group called: MECHA, which was kept hidden for the most part by the left-leaning news media) Maybe along with investigating these other charges of corruption, a separate investigation should be launched into how many votes he received from illegal aliens.

La Perla and her blah blah blah

La Perla,    God you sound like a neo-conservative!!  So a few illegal aliens voted in the Los Angeles mayoral election Wow there is a surprise, did it really make a difference, LA is so overwhemingly Liberal, had these illegal voters not voted he probably would have still won. I dont really like the fact that this guy is a former member of a hategroup called Mecha. But we all know there is a double standard in this country, Hispanic Supremacy groups like Mecha,LULAC and the Nation of Aztlan will never get exposed for the bigotry and racism they promote in the hispanic community, targeting white-Americans. When former Klansman and Republican David Duke ran for Governor of Louisiana the press was all over it, good for them, they kept this Republican out of office. Most news media is run by white-Liberals who don't have the guts to expose people like Villaraigosa or AZ Representative Raul Grijalva for the racists they are, they actually kiss up to them. This website if run by Liberals also, so don't think your appeal will do much good. Why dont you and the rest of your type go to townhall.com or some other conservative site.

No!

La Perla and her opinions are always welcome here (and I suspect she doesn't need you or I to tell her that!).  She often brings lively debate to the Common Blog, and the more participation then the merrier we are.

La Perla likes Townhall.com

Demo(crat)forlife,

Thanks for promoting Townhall.com, it is a very good website for people that want to hear non-mainstream news opinions. I agree with most of what you stated but I will continue to stay here on this site and continue to expose the Liberal-bias on this website. Growing up near the Mexico-U.S. border I could see the influence that Brown Supremacy groups and Liberal-controlled media had on the uneducated Latin population. In the predominately Hispanic neighborhoods I grew up in, white kids where continouslly the targets of racists Hispanics, but if a violent attack occurred Hispanics where never charged with a hatecrime against whites, which is really sad because the Mexican-american community is very racist against Gringos and sometimes against blacks but racist Mexican-americans feed off of the lies told by Hispanic-supremacy groups and Liberals in the media and at school. Mecha teaches that Mexicans are superior to other races and that white people stole their land.  But the truth is Mexican President Santa Anna started that war with the U.S., by taking an American ship hostage and refusing to release it. Mexican-american children are never taught that their ancestors owned black slaves, just like in the U.S. and that Mexico stole the Yucatan Peninsula and what is now the state of Chiapas from Guatemala. I could go on about what Mexicans have done to others but you get the point. One of the saddest things about education today is how some races (Hispanic & black) are taught to be proud of their heritage but whites are taught to be ashamed of their heritage, and half the time this is being done by white-liberals. White students are always told about the bad their ancestors did to other races but are rarely ever told anything positive about their race so that they can be proud of their European heritage. Sure whites owned slaves, but so did Mexicans(in Mexico) and blacks owned slaves too, yes Ill say it again African-americans owned slaves in this country (U.S.) too. In the Hispanic community people that are against their own race are called  "levas" or traitors. This is what white Liberals are to their own race. White-Liberals are the first ones to stand up against a racist attack committed by a white person but when Reginald Denny the white truck driver, who was dragged out of his semi-truck by 5 racist African-americans and beaten almost to death because he was white, did you see any white liberals demanding justice or demanding the racists blacks be charged with a hatecrime, of course not, where was the ACLU?? What about Affirmative-action, there's something white-liberals always get behind and support, which accomplishes what??  Lets see a white man and a black man go for a job, the black man is given the job because of his skin color, not because he earned it, the white man becomes angry and rightfully so 'cause he was a victim of racism , so he starts to hate blacks. Wow what a great program Affirmative-action is at ending racism. And how about diversity of thought on this website, I have seen a lot of left-leaning articles written on Common Cause but I have never seen a single article written with a conservative-bias. I doubt there is a single Republican that writes articles on this site and yet they call themselves nonpartisan?? All the groups CC aligns themselves with are Liberal: the ACLU, League of Women Voters, NAACP etc, when has the "nonpartisan" CC ever aligned itself with Concerned Women for America, Judicial Watch, or the Congress for Racial Equality or Linda Chavez's Center for Equal Opportunity. They always work with Liberal groups.

Seek and Ye Shall Find

If you search the Common Cause press release archives (found on the home page), you'll find more than a couple examples of the organization working with groups of all political persuasions.  Pay special attention to the recent net neutrality debate, as well as the ongoing work to reform ethics laws at the federal level.

On a more personal note, I serve here in New Mexico on an ethics reform task force with the president of the NM Association of Commerce and Industry (local U.S. Chamber affiliate).  In fact, I attended their recent board retreat and participated in a panel discussion about ethics reform.

Seek and ye shall find, La Perla.
