Pennsylvania Speaker faces official inquiry

In June the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review broke a story about Pennsylvania House Speaker John Perzel using campaign money for non-campaign purposes, such as restaurant meals and trips to the Super Bowl.

After a couple of months in which nothing much has happened with this issue, Common Cause Pennsylvania decided to force Perzel's hand.  Pennsylvania may have broad election laws where this is concerned, but Perzel's spending steps way over the line.  Common Cause Pennsylvania has sent a letter to state election officials asking for a review of Perzel's spending.  If the state has any desire keep it's campaign spending laws from becoming farcical, they should launch an inquiry as soon as possible.
