Destroy the Evidence

What's a government agency to do when its own research findings don't support its policy agenda?  At the FCC, apparently the answer is to destroy the evidence.  From the Associated Press:

The FCC ordered its staff to destroy all copies of a draft study that suggested greater concentration of media ownership would hurt local TV news coverage, a former lawyer at the agency says.

The report, written in 2004, came to light during the Senate confirmation hearing for FCC Chairman Kevin Martin.

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) received a copy of the report "indirectly from someone within the FCC who believed the information should be made public," according to Boxer spokeswoman Natalie Ravitz.

Adam Candeub, now a law professor at Michigan State University, said senior managers at the agency ordered that ''every last piece'' of the report be destroyed.

More on Jackson

Here is another paragraph, dealing with Jackson's money grubbing in Africa, from Nobel Peace Prize nominee Kenneth Timmerman's book called: Shakedown, exposing the real Jesse Jackson.

"Jackson is not trusted in Nigeria," says pro-democracy advocate Dr. Aluko (Howard University), who met with Jackson many times and believes he was "out of his depth" in Nigeria's complex political and tribal conflicts.  "He just wants to make money from Nigeria and everybody knows this"

Not relevant to the topic

Nadersupporter, your comments on Jesse Jackson aren't relevant to the topics you're posting to.  Admittedly, there hasn't been an Open Thread for a while, but that's the place where you need to post comments of this nature.
