Will they never learn?

Rep. Tom Reynolds (R-NY) is one greedy -- if not totally oblivious -- politician.  According to TheNation.com, he not only wants lobbyists to keep donating money to Republicans, but wants them to only donate to Republicans.

Last week, according to Roll Call, Reynolds warned a gathering of top lobbyists to refrain from donating to Democrats. "For those of you thinking about hedging your bets, I am watching you and I am going to know," said Reynolds, according to one Republican source at the meeting. "We will have no choice but to report to the Republican Conference any changes in your pattern of giving," Reynolds added, according to a second source.

Maybe Rep. Reynolds didn't get the memo, but his Republican colleagues are going down in blazes of shame over illegal doings with lobbyists; it seems to me that the chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee should be encouraging a more thoughtful approach to donations from lobbyists, or at least sharing the shame with Democrats.

Air America on its way out?

Here is an article taken from the Washington Times about the liberal radio station call Air America:

Air America Radio, the liberal talk network, which signed on the air almost 30 months ago, yesterday denied multiple reports that it is bankrupt and going off the air.
"If Air America had filed for bankruptcy every time someone rumored it to be doing so, we would have ceased to exist long ago," spokeswoman Jaime Horn told reporter Jennifer Harper of The Washington Times. "It may be frustrating to some that this hasn't happened. No decision has been taken to make any filing of any kind. We are not sure of the source of these rumors, and frankly cannot respond to every rumor in the marketplace."
But the rumors were loud and clear yesterday from ThinkProgress.org, an online blog produced by the District-based Center for American Progress, which reported that the network would file for bankruptcy tomorrow, adding, "Air America could remain on the air under the deal, but significant personnel changes are already in the works."
Sources at the New York Daily News and media watchdog blogs such as Newsbusters also have reported the Manhattan-based network was "so broke" that it could no longer pay personnel or subscribe to wire services.

One can only hope for the sake of Common Cause, this liberal radio station stays in business.

Give me a break

The well-being of Common Cause does not hinge on a fledgling radio station.

And this comment is irrelevant to the topic of the post.
