No findings yet, so we won't pass early judgment, but suffice to say that this administration has a poor track record when it comes to keeping partisanship out of their political business. It's not a good sign when the
official in charge of policing against unlawful partisan activities by the government gets raided by the FBI.
The office of the official responsible for protecting federal workers from political interference was raided by F.B.I. agents on Tuesday as part of an investigation into whether he himself mixed politics with official business.
The Office of Special Counsel gives advice to federal employees on which activities are proper and which are not allowed under the Hatch Act, which is supposed to guard against direct political interference in governmental affairs. Mr. Bloch's duties including shielding whistle-blowers who disclose such political meddling.
Bloch's office has come under scrutiny for allegedly throwing some whistleblower complaints in the trash bin, among other things. Hopefully the FBI finds that he's been following the law; it would be another stain on the executive branch to find an official who put partisan leanings ahead of the job of serving the public in a position of authority.
