Recapture the Flag

It's been a tough few years for "we the people."

We've endured repeated abuses of power by the Executive Branch of our government. Time after time, we've watched Congress fail to stand up for what's right. We've seen the very symbols of our democracy tarnished, as our nation's reputation suffers at home and abroad because of these abuses.

So today, Common Cause is launching a campaign to Recapture the Flag and unite us around the promise and hope of America.

Join today by signing our petition!

The Recapture the Flag Petition reads:
We The People believe in the Constitution, the rule of law and justice for all. We pledge to Recapture the Flag by demanding a President and Congress that:
*Ends torture, respects human rights and restores America’s reputation in the world.
*Respects the rule of law and fiercely challenges anyone who seeks to undermine the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
*Roots out corruption, special interest abuses and partisan prejudice in the administration of justice.
*Holds to account – without exception – anyone who breaks the law or violates the public trust.
*Protects personal freedom by rejecting warrantless spying and other affronts to individual liberty.

Click here to sign the petition today!

America can, and must, hold fast to the values that have made this country great - freedom from tyranny, respect for individual liberty and government based on the rule of law.

Let's make it clear that We The People expect no less from the next President and Congress.

Our goal is to gather 25,000 signatures before 4th of July. You can help us get there. But you have to act now.  Please add your name today.

Pelosi the Patsie, Hoyer the Majority Wimp

My Congressperson, Speaker Pelosi, is the complicit Democratic obstructionist enabling this undemocratic group of thugs.  She is to George Bush as he is to Scooter Libby.  Because of her there will be no accountability for the criminality and the debasement of our Constitution. At the risk of being misogynous, she has no balls. She has chosen to not listen to her constituents.   It is up to the good liberals   of San Francisco to institute her removal from office, to hold her accountable for her political choices. Recall, censure, impeachment and war crimes must now all begin at home. We have the right and we have the duty to protect the flag.

Re: recapture the flag

I think the above post by mikeksf hit the problem right on!
But regarding the recapture of the ailing, bloody and oiled-up flag, my question is "what does it stand for?" When I see the flag, I see dead and wounded Iraqi children, mothers and old people.
I see the disruption of five million Iraqi families now living without the comfort of their homes. Everything I see is the kind of stuff one would not want his flag to represent, but surely our flag represents all this. So I ask again, for what does our flag stand for?

"Baracks talk to the nation "

"Baracks talk to the nation after he is elected"

Baracks Bills -

  1. 2006 Transparency bill = expose corrupt lobby $ that lobbyist give to politicians so we the people can either impeach them or not re-elect them
  2. TECH PLAN = 2007 = http://www.USAspending.gov = expose all government spending so the citzens can see where their tax money goes
  3. 2008 = SUNSHINE bill = SUNLIGHT FOUNDATION = http://www.sunlightfoundation.com/ = http://www.sunshineweek.org/sunshineweek/candidates = EXPOSE future spending. This is acomplished as Barack and his newly elected cabinet point out to WE THE PEOPLE , negative porkbarrel spending so we the people can rally against a certain senator or congress person or committee to stop it before it goes up for vote or support it if it is good for we the people = honest government finally controlled by WE THE PEOPLE. Who knows maybe one day in the future we won't need politicians as we the people stay involved in what is going on in all 3 branches of government and we use the computer to approve the direction of our country / government.

Barack will be holding weekly / monthly speeches, to WE THE PEOPLE, guiding them as to which negative earmark / porkbarrel spending should be stopped (removed from a future bill) by the people rallying together online before a bill with that earmark goes up for vote!

Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL)

Obama has outlined an ambitious transparency plan that incorporates technology to "help connect government to its citizens and engage citizens in a democracy."

Among the proposals in Obama's plan to open government are: putting government data online in accessible formats; airing live webcasts of agency meetings; restoring scientific integrity; allowing people to track federal grants, contracts, earmarks and lobbyist contacts online; and allowing five days for public to review and comment on legislation online before its signed.

In an October 2007 speech, Obama pledged to "turn the page on a growing empire of classified information, and restore the balance we've lost between the necessarily secret and the necessity of openness in a democratic society by creating a new National Declassification Center."

Past is Prologue

One of Obama's most visible Senate actions on the open government front was his co-sponsorship of the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act, which went into effect Jan. 1, 2008 with the launch of USAspending.gov, a Web site that gives people access to information on government contracts, grants and other awards.

As an Illinois state senator, Obama co-sponsored the Verbatim Record Bill, requiring public agencies to video or audio record closed door meetings, The First Amendment Center reported, noting the law was the first of its kind enacted by any state.

Obama is the only remaining candidate to have signed the Reason Foundation's Oath of Presidential Transparency, and, according to The Washington Post he is the only leading candidate to have released his income tax returns.

What other aspects do you seek Barack to address to the nation?

Why its Important to Recapture the Flag..

Why its important to Recapture the Flag.

In just seven and one half years the Bush "Leave no Billionaire Behind" Administration and his supporters have ruined and bankrupted this formerly Great Country of ours.  Its America's great misfortune Bush and cohorts have also ruined and bankrupt a large number of struggling Americans, some already on the edge of disaster, including some of Americas: retiree's on Social Security,  some disabled Veterans and other Veterans and Military retirees in addition to the veterans that are already homeless.  The middle class has a increasing jobless and bankruptcy rate.   Business's are failing at an alarming rate.  Inflation has hit us extremely hard, gas prices hit prices you would not expect until year 2069.  The earth is getting hotter and hotter and our climate may never reach equallibrium again. Yet "meanwhile back at the Ranch"  The white guy on the white horse, in the White House spits  on the United States Constitution, signs legislation with signing statements that claim the legislation does not apply to him. And the illegal Iraq war and the pending illegal Iranian war are killing and will kill our military members and innocent civilians. Bush, stop the killing, Give Us back our Constitution, Give Us back our Economy, Give Us Back The Country.  GIVE US BACK THE FLAG!
